Disability Support Policy

Introduction

UCD Professional Academy is committed to maximising access to its education and training courses, and makes every effort to accommodate the additional needs of students with disabilities or significant ongoing illnesses.

Current or prospective students who may require special accommodations, either in the course of teaching or in assessment, are encouraged to make this known to the Professional Academy as early as possible.

All information provided in relation to additional supports will be treated in strictest confidence and in accordance with the principles of GDPR. Such information will be limited to the personnel directly involved in administering and evaluating the request.

How to request additional supports

Current or prospective students who wish to request accommodations in teaching or assessment are asked to complete an online form attaching any relevant supporting documentation.

This form may be completed at any time during your course. However, please be aware that, while the Professional Academy will make every effort to provide reasonable accommodations to students who need them, our ability to do so is greater prior to or at the beginning of a course of study.

On courses where assessment is external (i.e. carried out by a partner institution), requests relating to exams etc. will be directed to the assessing institution.

Please ensure that you provide the correct supporting documentation for your application. All documents evidencing a disability must be provided in English. If they were not originally supplied in English they must be translated by a professional translator.

If you have already submitted a request and wish to discuss supports and accommodations, please contact  to speak confidentially with a member of the Student Support team.

All students who wish to access relevant supports with UCD Professional Academy will need to agree to both the Consent to Release Information Form and Privacy Statement.
